Food kits healthy for cookshops

Sales of ‘Make your own’ kits are growing in the UK, according to Mad Millie, which exhibited at the recent Chicago International Home +Housewares Show (IH+HS March 2-5). “Our kits make a popular add on sales for cookshops and housewares stockists, whose customers are interested in making their own food,” says Nancy Clarke, UK sales manager.

The company specialises in gourmet cheese making kits, with its current hit products including a Kefit Kit and Vegan Cheese Kit. “We’re seeing the big growth in health foods, and we’re noticing much more awareness of both the health benefits and sustainability of making your own foods as many more people want to reduce packaging and waste as well as know what goes into their food,” Nancy observes.

However, recognising that a little indulgenc is also a good thing, Mad Milie’s new launches include a Gin Kit and Chocolate Making Kit.
