The Good Housekeeping Institute has tested a range of air fryers to come up with its list of the top 18 models.
The experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute use the air fryers to roast a whole chicken or cook chicken Kyivs (depending on the size of the appliance), monitoring how long it takes the chicken to reach 75C. Then they judge the results, looking for crispy golden skin and moist meat.
Chips are then cooked, followed by fairy cakes to judege how well the applicance can bake and how evenly the air circulates.
Each air fryer is then scored overall according to its performance, ease of use, design, instructions and accompanying information.
