Holly Wilson, owner of North London’s Prep Cookshop and Richard Dare is about to launch her first dedicated ecommerce site, recognising that: “Demand is certainly there, so I feel hopeful.”
Writing in the new issue of Progressive Housewares magazine, she describes the development of the site as an “epic” task for her and her colleagues, including many weeks of lockdowns spent loading products. Most recently, Holly has worked on the site in between preparing orders for Click and Collect and Trouva, while her two children ‘home school,’ while sitting at the shop counter.
Holly also recognises the uncertainty of ordering stock, when uptake is unknown, and when her two North London shops are closed. She acknowledges: “There still seems to be supply issues and, with customs delays, it all feels like a big unknown. But I guess the only way to survive is be brave and move forwards with confidence and hope. As a classic line (from the film Field of Dreams) says: “If you build it, they will come.””
