Spring Fair hits the spot

Buyers took to social media to express their enthusiasm for Spring Fair last week (NEC Birmingham February 6-9). “We were delighted to see much newness at Spring Fair to bring to you very soon!” tweeted independent cookshop Hargreaves & Son, Buxton, while Potters Cookshop, Hockley enthused: “Fantastic to be back at Spring Fair, sourcing lots of new, exciting and wonderful products.”

Samantha Marshall, buying business manager at Leekes was among the enthusiastic throng of buyers, exclaiming: “So happy to be back at a busy Spring Fair. Great to see loads of beautiful newness.” Victoria Owen, senior buyer for Sainsbury’s concurred, stating: “Always love to see suppliers face to face, and meeting some in person for the first time!”

Ultimate Products was among the Hall 8 housewares exhibitors that enjoyed a highly productive show, presenting new products for every room of the home.  Having acquired Salter scales in July, after previously licensing the brand, Spring Fair was UP’s first opportunity to bring together its whole Salter collection across SDA, cookware, scales and diagnostics. The 260-year old brand attracted a lot of attention at the show.

“We were delighted to meet our dear customers in person and there was a great buzz on the stand,” commented UP’s commercial director Jenny Stewart. UP was able to generate new business and assist with stock gaps, as well as catch up with existing customers and highlight brand new product development.

Cookware collections were grabbing buyers’ attention on stands including Jomafe, Pendeford and Kuhn Rikon. Presenting 17 different ranges of cookware in addition to tabletop products, Jomafe’s sales director Paul Threse reflected on “a very busy show indeed.” Also showing 17 different sets of cookware, Kuhn Rikon’s key accounts manager Paul Marchmont said the company is thrilled that its substantial investment in new product development over the last 12 months is receiving extremely positive responses. “The energy in the hall really reminded me of the late 90’s – so much positivity,” commented Paul. “We now have lots more retailers for our cookware! “
