Whitford’s gallery of coatings

Non-stick coatings expert Whitford’s stands at both the current IH+HS in Chicago (March 2-5) and the recent Ambiente have made special features of the latest colour trends. Both featured cookware coated with the 2019 Pantone Colour of the Year – Living Coral, as well as eye-catching galleries of the 2019 trend colours for non-stick coatings.

The stand in Chicago also showcases lifestyle displays of three trends: Kitchen Basics (black, while, and high gloss), Shades of Blue and Brassy & Bright. “We’ve been watching the rise of blue for three years and notice that it works well with teal and indigo,” says Fran Groesbeck, consumer marketing manager for North America. She emphasises that the Brassy & Bright trend combines gold and bright silver in kitchens, sometimes with just “a touch if metallic on the product.”

Fran explains: “All sorts of different categories translate into what we do. We watch automotives, consumer electronics and fashion – an example being the popularity of blue nail polish.”

Whitford’s 2019 colour gallery reflects Pantone’s trends while also considering the European and Asian markets, notes Fran.

The newest coating shown at Ambiente was Peek, with exceptional durability for high-end cookware. “It exceeded expectations” in German testing, notes Whitford’s Andy Reynolds. Meanwhile, Granite (launched at the end of 2018, and also part of the showcase) heralds a new manufacturing process, involving three coats.
