Wilko continues new store openings

Stores in St Albans and Rotherham have been reopened with positive reception from locals.

The St Albans concept store was opened by the Mayor of St Albans, councillor Anthony Rowlands to queues of returning Wilko customers. The new store offers all consumers would expect from Wilko, and 20% more. Alongside home and garden essentials from named brands and Wilko own-brand lines, consumers can browse and order from the 100,000 items available online using self-service terminals for home delivery.

The new St Albans store created 70 new jobs, for which former employees have been prioritised.

Ceo of CDS Superstores, trading as The Range and Wilko, Alex Simpkin, commented: “The customer reaction to our St Albans store opening today has been brilliant and proves we’ve made the right decision in returning this much-loved retailer to UK high streets.”

Wilko also recently celebrated a return to Rotherham, where the deputy mayor of Rotherham, councillor Robert Taylor officiated the launch with the ribbon cutting.

The Rotherham store created 50 new jobs. Alex added: “We’re overjoyed by the reaction of Rotherham locals to the new wilko store and we’re pleased to see that everyone is excited by wilko’s return to the UK high street.”
