Hong Kong Houseware Fair opens next week

The HKTDC (Hong Kong Trade Development Council) Hong Kong Houseware Fair presents its 34th edition from April 20-23 (Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre) with 2,200 global exhibitors. Last year, over 29,500 buyers from 112 countries and regions visited the fair.

Highlights include trend displays for Spring/Summer 2020 housewares curated by WGSN using products from exhibitors, as well as trends talks from the forecasting agency on colours, materials, shapes and vibes.

In order to create an easy-to-navigate setting and provide a superior sourcing experience, the Houseware Fair will continue to feature products under four main themes that represent a harmony of “LIFE”, namely “Lifestyle”, “Interior”, “Feast” and “Enrich”.

The Lifestyle zone includes the World of Fine Dining, with a Green Living area. Exhibitors include Japan’s Taiyo Chemicals Company, which will showcase the LauLau Tableware series (made in Japan). Meeting worldwide demand for more sustainable products, the tableware is made from recycled bottles collected from schools and is safe for use in microwave and dishwashers.

Other exhibitors presenting new designs include tableware, kitchenware and wine tools from Clip Fresh, Cleanwrap, Kobubo, Locksy and Red A.

Meanwhile, the Hall of Elegance feature Smart Home products. Exhibits include the KIGI Food Storage Container from Shantou Leqishi Plastic Products. Supported by its KIGI app, users can check the food conditions and be inspired of its suggested recipes based on their current stock of food.

“Feast” features “Tableware”, “Wine Tools & Accessories”, “Kitchenware & Gadgets” and “Home Appliances” zones. Eastern Rich Industries from Hong Kong will show reusable and foldable silicone straws which are easy to clean.

The show organisers highlight that the worldwide revenue in the ‘Furniture & Homeware’ segment amounts to USD225.3 (according to Statista, a leading statistics company).  Statistics also show that most revenue is generated in Mainland China (over USD80 billion).
