Top Drawer’s waste saving winner

With Top Drawer S/S 2020 underway at London Olympia (January 12-14), the show has crowned its Spotted Award winner. The Spotted section of the show presents new and emerging talent, providing visitors with an exciting array of market-ready innovations.

The winner of the Spotted Award (decided by judges from the likes of Tate Enterprises, The Conran Shop, Habitat and Wolf & Badger) is Batch.works. The company uses 3D printing to produce at a batch scale, working with local makers to create pieces on demand; eliminating supply chain waste. They use recycled and responsibly sourced material to make their products and aim to make local design and manufacturing globally available.

Among the shortlist for the Spotted Award is Kay van Bellen’s Illustrated Stories – a Netherlands based ceramics brand, which was founded last year. Kay is a British-born artist and illustrator with a Dutch heritage and love of Delft Blue ceramics. The pieces in the inaugural collection are created from old, found objects, which Kay screenprints and decorates by hand.

Another shortlisted brand, Dearest Fannie was founded by two sisters looking to make sustainability fashionable for a young market. Its range includes reusable straws and a straw bag.
