Stocking up at Kitchen Range

Stockpots, teamers and large saucepans were popular at The Kitchen Range Cookshop in Market Harborough last week, where trade was “quite busy,” according to director Andy Johnston. Andy speculates that some consumers are batch cooking and “going back to basics,” coinciding with supermarkets running out of flour.

Meanwhile Potters Cookshop in Hockley had a “really busy” week in store, and steady online sales, reports director Tom Carter, with a “complete mix” of purchases, although sales of cleaning related supplies were up. Tom emphasises keeping upbeat for both customers and colleagues: “We taking one day at a time and staying positive, supporting each other and stepping up if colleagues need to be off.”

At Kennedy’s Mica DIY and Home in Birmingham, owner John Horwood says the shop will use Facebook to remind customers that it offers home deliveries to help those reducing social interaction due to coronavirus.

Despite “definitely fewer people” out shopping around the vicinity of housewares stockist The Tool Shop’sstores in London, administration manager Sarah Edminston expected a new supply of hand sanistiser to “sell out within half an hour” at the end of last week.
