Chancellor’s plate expectations

Chancellor Rishi Sunak turned his hand to decorating a plate when visiting the Emma Bridgwater factory in Stoke-on-Trent this week (September 15). He adorned the plate with the message ‘plan for jobs.’

With the furlough scheme due to end next month, Rishi used the tableware manufacture as an example to highlight the benefits of the Government’s Job Retention Bonus scheme.

The Chancellor’s Twitter post (with a photo taken at the factory) stated: ‘I visited @EmmaBridgewater who can benefit from the £1,000 Job Retention Bonus for returning staff. That’s equal to a 20% wage subsidy for the employment costs of the average furloughed person.’

Emma Bridgewater has restarted bookings for its popular Decorating Studio, which reopens on September 28, enabling consumers to create their own bespoke messages on tableware.
