Top three actions to be ready for Brexit

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is holding a series of free webinars for housewares suppliers (under the banner of consumer goods companies) and retailers in the run-up to the end of the UK’s period of transition from the EU. The BEIS is also highlighting the ‘top three actions’ that companies need to take to be ready for 1 January 2021.

Companies need to check if Import VAT is due at the border (to avoid face delays, disruption or administrative costs). To find out more, see changes to VAT.

The BEIS directs companies to the GOV.UK website to see how they can be ready to sell certain goods in the UK and EU . See

Placing manufactured goods on the GB market from 1 January 2021

Placing manufactured goods on the EU market from 1 January 2021

Moving goods under the Northern Ireland Protocol

Thirdly, businesses need to get ready to make customs declarations (requiring specialist skill, knowledge and IT).
