The latest in BHETA’s series of advisory webinars will focus on data protection rules and ensuring companies remain compliant.
The event on Thursday 29 February at 2pm, will be presented by Jenna Bruce and Stephen Ruse from commercial law firm and BHETA business service provider, Howes Percival.
Intended as an introduction and overview of the UK data protection regime, the session will include a reminder of core areas of compliance and an update on recent changes.
The agenda will cover:
· Why does data protection matter?
· What rights do people have?
· What impact does data protection compliance have on contracting?
· What impact does it have on marketing (including e-communications)?
· What is a data breach and what should we do?
· What if we get it wrong?
Jenna and Stephen are part of the data protection team at Howes Percival and advise on all aspects of UK data protection compliance. The event includes a Q&A.
Steve Richardson, BHETA marketing director, commented: “Just recently Hello Fresh was fined £140,000 for sending out texts and emails without the appropriate consents being in place. This is a salutary reminder for all companies not only to understand the rules and train personnel accordingly, but also to double check that they are still compliant on a regular basis. This BHETA event is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”
