B&Q reports strong first year for marketplace

B&Q Marketplace online sales were up 130% for the year, compared to 2019.

The online platform, which works with 400 third party sellers, now has eight times more products than it did at launch, with a catalogue of 340,000 SKUs.

Over the last year, the marketplace added 14 new categories and now covers small domestic appliances, cookware, tableware, storage and many more. The online sales contribution has grown over the year from 5% in July 2022, to 24% in February 2023.

The team have ambitions to reach one million products offered on the B&Q Marketplace. Newly appointed head of business development, Joanna McKew, commented on LinkedIn: “What a fantastic year we have had, and with online sales up 130% in comparison to 2019, our marketplace will continue to go from strength to strength.

“We already work with 400 sellers and would love to speak to any retailers, wholesalers, distributors or brands who would be interested in becoming part of our exciting journey.”
