As part of its on-going 100th birthday celebrations Harts of Stur recently joined forces with local solicitors Porter Dodson for an exclusive early evening shopping event. The special occasion at the Sturminster Newton store was hosted by Philip Hart and sons Johnathan and Graham.

Guests enjoyed food and drink from local artisan producers and freshly brewed coffee from the Jura coffee machine display, while rising to the challenges of ‘guess the mystery objects’ and ‘match the wine to the wine glass’. The attendees also learnt about Hart’s family history and online operation, and took guided tours of the shop and warehouse.

The company’s expansion plans were on display, with the architect on site to explain the changes. Meanwhile, Harts showed off some of its eco-credentials with a presentation on its new solar panel installation, with details on the benefits of renewable energy.

Harts of Stur’s next centenary celebration takes place this Saturday (July 6). Following on from its successful breakfast themed events, the retailer’s focus turns to barbecues and outdoor entertaining both in store and online.

Harts will host a special Burgers and Boogie Woogie event in the store. The barbie will be fired up to cook five hundred locally-sourced centenary burgers, accompanied by a special ‘boogie woogie’ relish created exclusively for the event by Mark Hartstone, owner of La Fosse at Cranborne. Live music will be provided by the French Boogie Woogie Boys who are playing as part of Sturminster Newton’s annual boogie woogie festival.
