Huski repurposes coconut wood

Attitudes towards waste reduction and living more in a more sustainable way have amplified during lockdown, according to Huski Home director Lisa Scott. The Huski Home brand uses natural waste to create products that replace single use items such as plastic water bottles, takeaway coffee cups and single use lunchboxes.

“Demand for our range has grown especially in the last couple of months; I think that people have revised their way of thinking towards the sheer amount of general waste accumulated over the lockdown period,” states Lisa.

She acknowledges the increasing number of consumers, influencers, retailers and other businesses that follow the  Huski brand (launched in December 2018). Lisa explains: “We have a great community online of people looking to lead more sustainable lives, share tips and advice on reducing waste whilst being able to use stylish eco-friendly products.”

She adds: “We also work alongside Zero waste refill stores, independents and cookshops who stock a tailor made selection of Huski’s range. Our latest stockists are a Zero Waste store in the Cayman Islands and an independent in Sri Lanka!”

Huski is now launching a new range of kitchenware, which is hand-carved coconut wood from the trunks of coconut trees that no longer bear fruit. These join products made from disused rice husk (the shell of rice) and coconut shells.
