Wham Upcyled in recycled top four

What More UK’s Wham Upcycled range is in the top 4 of European housewares products made from recycled plastic. The housewares range – made from 95% recycled single use plastics – made the finals of the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe.

The Awards are presented annually in Amsterdam at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE). The show brings together Europe’s top businesses and materials scientists to celebrate developments in plastics recycling and explore new opportunities.

Judges at the PRSE were impressed with the strength and durability of the Wham Upcycled range. The housewares products have been put through load testing and proven to withstand up to 380kg with no visible signs of damage. What More has even shown that four boxes put together will withstand the weight of a family car.

Company director Andy Riley comments: “Being in the finals and making the top four of an international award scheme is a massive achievement. We’re determined to continue making more and better products from recycled materials.” He adds: “We’ve taken something that people used to throw away without a thought, and turned it into something new and better. The idea of a product lifecycle with a beginning, a middle, and an end is out of date, and wrong. These days we’re all about recycling and reusing materials.”

What More UK has also been presented with a silver medal in The Globee International Awards in the product design and development category. Accepting the award on behalf of the whole company, manufacturing director Rob Walker comments: “It proves that we’re on the right track and, even in these difficult times, if you’re dedicated and work hard, you can still achieve positive results.”
