David Mellor moves to new premises

After 55 years in its current location, retailer David Mellor is moving to a new premises.

The new store is just around the corner from the current location, in Pavilion Road – SW3’s current shopping hot-spot.

The new space is slightly smaller, but still perfectly formed, so the owners are making a little change. The new store will be a dedicated home for our own ranges and a showcase for David and Corin Mellor’s brilliant designs.

Based on the belief that good design improves everyone’s lives, the store is designed to be the perfect backdrop for the cutlery and kitchen knives, fine bone china and stoneware ceramics, lead-free crystal glasses, and contemporary wood and stainless-steel tableware.

The full range of kitchenware, from scissors to spatulas, colanders to corers, mixing bowls to mashers and everything in between, will all still be available at the shop in Marylebone, at the Country Shop at the Round Building in Derbyshire and on davidmellordesign.com.

The retailer said: “Since 1969, the David Mellor shop at Number 4 has been a landmark. As creators of cult cutlery, purveyors of pots and pans to the stars and apocryphally doing for the scrubbing brush what Brigitte Bardot did for the push-up bra, we are proud to have been champions of design in Chelsea for more than half a century.

“But as they say in Sheffield, where we’re originally from, a change is as good as a rest, and after fifty-five years, we’ve got the tissue paper out, and we’re carefully packing up all our knives, forks and spoons, our plates and platters, our cups and saucers, mugs and glasses.”
