UK home and housewares retailers are invited to take part in an international competition which could win them a trip to Chicago in 2022. The IHA’s (International Housewares Association) Global Innovation Awards programme, aka gia, has launched the gia Top Window Award 2021. The gia programme is the world’s leading global awards programme, which honours overall excellence, business innovation and creative merchandising in home and housewares retailing.
Home and housewares retailers from around the world will compete for the best window displays, with two stores (one large and one small) winning a trip to The Inspired Home Show 2022, taking place in Chicago from March 5-8 2022.
All the shortlisted stores will be part of a worldwide celebration of magnificent housewares and home goods window displays, with lots of positive publicity for the retailers involved.
The windows will be judged on:
- Originality and Creativity (theme, concept, special effects)
- Merchandise Presentation
- Professionalism: Execution and Technical Aspects (lighting, attention to detail, signage, copy).
Three UK national winners will go forward for international judging by the panel of gia expert jurors.
To be considered for the 2021 gia Top Window Award, housewares retailers need to contact Jo Howard, Progressive Housewares’ editor at joh@max-publishing.co.uk by July 9, with between one and three images of a particular window display. Progressive Housewares magazine is the UK gia sponsor.
All photographs need to be digital images, high resolution 300 dpi .tiff or .jpg. Photo dimensions should be approximately 21 x 26 cm, and there is a short form to complete, including the ideas behind the window display.
Entrants to the gia Top Window Award are also encouraged to enter The Excellence in Housewares’ Excellence in Retail Display Award 2021 (and vice versa) – also by the deadline of July 9.
Previous gia UK winners are very welcome to take part in the gia Top Window contest, as well as EIH finalists and winners, and all UK housewares retailers with a show-stopping window to share.
