New chapter for Grunwerg

Leading housewares supplier and Global distributor Grunwerg – established in 1945 – is moving from its Rockingham Street base in the heart of Sheffield, where it has been since 1984, to new offices in the leafy suburbs. The move will facilitate further growth for the company UK and export markets while ensuring exceptional levels of customer service.

Grunwerg’s new site at Silversteel Manor is situated in the wooded valley of Sheepbridge in Chesterfield. It feature state-of-the art facilities, including a brand new showroom and plenty of room for growth, as well as improved staff facilities with recreational areas.

Managing director, David Grunwerg comments: “This is an exciting move for our company, coinciding with the transfer of our business to the fourth generation of our family through the capable hands of Ben Grunwerg.”

David continues: “We are vacating our comfortable and convenient city centre site for this beautiful new location in the suburbs of Sheffield and Chesterfield, where we hope that our staff will enjoy the pleasant surroundings and that the business will continue to prosper into the future”.

Director Ben Grunwerg adds: “The diversity of our product range and the strengths of our brands; Global, Rockingham Forge, Pioneer vacuum flasks, DrinkPod, Café Stal, Vektra, Windsor and Commichef to name a few, are real assets in the current business climate and our new office base will help us provide even higher levels of service excellence for our customers, as well as room for expansion and development of our UK and export markets. This complements our successful London showroom based in the Business Design Centre in Islington.”

The office move was prompted by the sale of Silversteel House to student housing developers. Grunwerg is scheduled to complete its office relocation by the end of the summer.

Meanwhile, Tom Basford has rejoined Grunwerg to coincide with the company’s new chapter. A well-known figure in the housewares industry, Tom started his sales career working for Dixons, then moved to field sales with Brabantia for two years before joining Grunwerg.

After early 15 years of service, Tom decided last year that it was time for a change and went to work for Meyer Group. Tom now re-joins Grunwerg as sales manager.

Tom comments: “Having spent just a year away, I was able to gain experience of how a manufacturer in our industry operates.  This was a real eye opener for me and I hope that I can bring some of the good from Meyer back to Grunwerg where I am looking forward to continuing my career in sales.”

Ben Grunwerg states: “Tom brings back to us a wealth of experience and knowledge of products and industry experience and I am very pleased Tom has decided to re-join.”

*Grunwerg’s new address will be Silversteel Manor, Carrwood Road, Carrwood Industrial Estate, Sheepbridge, Chesterfield, S41 9QB. The office contact details remain unchanged.
