Trouva’s interior tips

Trouva, the online platform for independent boutiques has revealed its 2019 Trend Guide, showing several key influences on consumers’ housewares choices for the year ahead. It encourages online shoppers to ‘buy into’ several interior looks, which have been identified with the help of the platform’s network of highly knowledgeable independent buyers.

Trouva’s boutiques include a variety of cookshops including Kooks Unlimited (Richmond), The Kitchen Shop (Lichfield), Peppercorn (Wales) and Season Cookshop (North London).

Inspired by the Art Deco and Memphis movement, ‘Circular Silhouettes’is among the home interior trends highlighted by Trouva. Household objects boasting circular shapes, curves and scalloping are replacing sharp lines and squares. Examples of housewares include the Hay Dish Dryer Rack and Norman Copenhagen’s Tivoli Entry Coffee Pot and Cup.

Bloomingville’s Terracotta White Glaze, as well as tableware by Serax and Nkuku, is among the products in the spotlight for the trend for warm Terracotta (‘baked earth’).

‘New Neutrals’ heralds the takeover of grey by beige and other warm tones such ascream, peach and brown. Hot home accessories include Fern Living’s Leaf Dish Cloths and Stoneware Pitcher.

Unsurprisingly, given the hostility towards single-use plastic in 2018, Trouva’s trends include Sustainabilityand a movement towards ‘buying less and buying better.’ The online platform highlights T&G’s Lucca Olivewood Mill and Reclaimed Wood Rustic Crates and Iris Hantverk’s White Handheld Dustpan and Brush Set.

*Trend-hunting retailers will be able to visit Bloomingvilles, Nkuku and Serax at Top Drawer (London Olympia January 13-14).
