BHETA launches two new webinars

The November webinars will focus on sustainability, including B Corp certification and an update on the Offensive Weapons Act.

On Thursday 16 November at 2pm, BHETA will host a webinar focusing on enabling businesses to develop a long-term sustainability strategy to enhance bottom line performance. The webinar will include information on B Corp certification and Carbon Accounting, and is aimed at any supplier which needs to develop and report on sustainability.

The key speaker will be Will Powell from BHETA business service provider, Future Shift, a sustainability consultancy which already works with several BHETA members including Horwood Homewares and Pure Table Top.

Tom Sellicks from Pure Table Top, commented: “Future Shift has delivered a very personal and flexible service and the team has been instrumental in guiding our sustainability journey.”

Will’s presentation – Sustainability: A strategic roadmap for future-ready business – will cover how to equip companies with the tools and insights to exceed upcoming sustainability requirements. This will include the development of sustainable practices; ensuring long-term resilience and competitive advantage; and methods for navigating the regulatory landscape.

BHETA’s marketing director, Steve Richardson, commented: “Don’t miss this opportunity to future-proof your business. This a massive topic at the moment with more and more retail channels requiring new and high standards in this area – quite apart from its topicality with consumers.  This session will be a great help – particularly to SME businesses – giving access to leading experts in the field, courtesy of BHETA.”

Then, on Thursday 23 November at 10am, BHETA will host a webinar following the update to the Offensive Weapons Act on the latest legal position on age verification.

The key speaker will be Jake Nash-Wilson from AgeChecked, who will update delegates on the most recent consultation, including the fact that sellers of age restricted products caught within the Offensive Weapons Act (OWA), who fail to conduct due diligence ahead of a sale, can face heavy fines and increased prison sentences.

Steve continued: “Alongside its members, BHETA has been lobbying Government on the scope of the Offensive Weapons Act for some time and together we have achieved some notable exclusions, modifications, and clarifications. It remains imperative however that all affected suppliers take seriously the need to keep abreast of the latest developments, including the need to age check. It’s vital that all sellers appreciate it is their responsibility to do so, and this webinar is an important opportunity for companies to ensure they are up to speed.”
