EIH product awards finalists celebrate

The winners of the Excellence in Housewares Awards 2022 will be revealed at a lavish event on the evening of Wednesday 5 October 2022 at the Royal Lancaster London, fully supported by trade associations Bheta and Bira, plus by trade shows including Ambiente, Exclusively and The Inspired Home Show in Chicago, and backed by leading suppliers across the housewares sector. The finalists have been celebrating their place on the list, with everyone excited to hear who will be the winners on the night.

Jenny Handley, T&G’s head of marketing, said: “T&G is delighted to hear that we are finalists in the Cutting Edge Category of the Excellence in Housewares Awards with our natural oak Chateau serving and preparation boards. Being recognised by industry experts and colleagues is a huge compliment; it’s a seal of approval for our products, design and quality and we are very excited to have been chosen.”

At Australia’s Dreamfarm (from Forma House), Cate McDermott, marketing manager was elated: “We are absolutely thrilled that we have been chosen as finalists not just once but five times over – how incredible.”

First time in the finals, James Sanderson, sales manager at Masterpan stated: “We are honoured to be selected as a finalist for the Innovation Award at the upcoming Excellence in Housewares Awards. Thank you judges for considering us. We look forward to seeing everyone at the event; best of luck to all the finalists.”

Commenting on behalf of Nordic Ware UK, Caroline Appleton acknowledged: “We are honoured to once again be a finalist within both the Icon Award and Excellence in Cookware categories. Having recently celebrated our 75th Anniversary, we are grateful for the support Nordic Ware has received over the years from consumers, retailers and fellow brands.”

Diane Clark, brand manager on behalf of Portmeirion Group marketing team, commented: “We’re delighted Botanic Garden is a finalist for the Icon Award. As one of the first designs Portmeirion launched, Botanic Garden means a huge amount to us as a business, and we can’t think of a better time to be nominated than on the 50th anniversary of its launch, what a fantastic way for the collection to be commemorated.”

“I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to be a finalist in the prestigious Excellence in Cookware Award for 2022,” enthused Neil McIntosh, country manager UK for The Cookware Company. “We are determined and passionate to provide our customers the world’s leading healthy ceramic PFAS-Free non-stick cookware and to fully support our trade partners in offering this choice to their consumers.”

Among the finalists in the new award which embraces housewares for cleaning and utility, Bona’s UK sales manager Liam Walsh, exclaimed: “This is fantastic news – a great achievement for the Bona UK retail business and one we very proud of.”

With two tableware ranges in the line-up, Hayley Baddiley, global marketing director for Denby commented: “Everyone at Denby is delighted our products have been nominated for two categories. It means a great deal to be nominated, which means our new Kiln tableware collection and our commitment to the environment and sustainability have caught the attention of the judges.”

“We’re absolutely delighted to receive this recognition for our incredible brands following a year of continuous innovation and development,” said Ultimate Products’ commercial director Jenny Stewart. “The Ultimate Products team is looking forward to joining Progressive Housewares for an amazing evening.”

At Samuel Groves, managing director Lee McDonagh was “delighted that Britannia Recycled Cast Iron is being recognised for its Eco credentials. The product was developed after listening to consumer concerns and requirements and as a result we have focused on reducing the company’s carbon footprint and producing the most sustainable products we can.”

Among the Cutting Edge Award finalists, Taylors Eye Witness director Alastair Fisher enthused: “It’s so nice to see the EIH awards so well supported by the industry and we of course are delighted that our Forte series of weighted knives are a finalist.”

In the Plugged-In category Gastroback’s Marcus Lux, international business development manager, commented: “We are so thrilled to be nominated again as a finalist at this year’s Excellence in Housewares Awards. Being nominated now for the third year in a row means a lot to us and shows that we are on the right track and that our products are recognized by the market as a popular choice.”

New to the EIH Awards, Julian de Segundo, director of Savernake Knives reflected: “We’ve only very recently started selling our knives with retail partners, so we really didn’t have any expectation of being selected, so it’s all very pleasantly surprising. It confirms for us that we are on to a good thing with our design led, British made DNA range, which is very encouraging. We’re excited to attend the EIH Awards for the first time and even more so now we’re a finalist.”

Brian Walmsley, UK manager of EKO Home is “delighted” to be among the finalists for the inaugural Excellence in Home Organisation Award. He said: “The EKO Puro meets the ever-increasing need for home recycling, as well smaller living solutions. There are so many great entries this year. Congratulations to all our fellow finalists.”

On behalf of the Dexam team, Abbie Bleasby-Voice, marketing manager told us: “There has been a real buzz in the Dexam office since the finalists were announced. Last year we won the Excellence in Product Development award and to be shortlisted for not one but five product awards across our own brand and licensed ranges this year is testament to the hard work that goes into this area. We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.”

The product categories went under the scrutiny of a stellar judging panel, made up entirely of respected retail buyers who each cast their votes, including buyers from John Lewis, Lakeland, Robert Dyas, Borough Kitchen, Fenwick, Harrods, Harts of Stur, Morley Stores, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Next, and a host of independent specialists from across the UK.
